California (Part 1 of too many)

A few weeks ago we returned for one of our best trips to California. It was full of so much fun and family that I have a ridiculous number of pictures to document it all.

The excitement of our big trip started long before we arrived on the golden coast. Even though we spent nearly the entire week before packing, our suitcases still weren't completely ready the night before. I don't know if Max felt like he needed to be in beach body shape or what, but as I working on the last minute details he brought me a work out DVD and asked if he could do it. He was very serious about the whole thing and wanted to do each exercise just right.

Ruby, of course, tried copy his every move.

I was totally impressed with how they stuck with it and did the whole thing.

When they were done, Max was eager to see if his work had paid off. I think he was expecting a little more. He was even more disappointed when he noticed the cover of the DVD and said, "What!! They want me to do this for 30 days!"

Once all the packing (and exercising) was done we were finally ready for departure. Even though Ruby has been on plenty of flights in her short life I consider this her first "real" flight. She was very aware and excited about the flying experience and to our great pleasure this was her first time flying in our her own seat. (not that she always stayed in it.) She was so cute and interested in everything about take off and flying it was actually a joy to travel with her---especially with the boys so busy checking out the Sky Mall magazines.

Our second flight was the long one, but it was still a breeze since 10 minutes into the flight Ruby laid her head down, fell asleep and didn't make a move until we arrived in LAX. Apparently the sleep did her well because she arrived very chipper.

Ruby wasn't the only one that arrived in high spirits. The boys were so happy to be there that they were all smiles even while waiting at baggage claim.

Our day was moving along so smoothly it almost seemed too good to be true--and it was. Traveling across the county was no problem--driving 3 hours in LA traffic up to Santa Barbara was something else.

More of the good stuff (that made this miserable drive worth it) coming up.

I am with you Max, after a good workout, I want to see some major results. But it seems to me, you already look like a strong little boy. Anxiously awaiting more of the good stuff.
